Table IV

Predominant Coastal Change Factors

  1. Rise and fall of lake level, with daily wind driven, seasonal, and inter-annual variations.
  2. Beach, dune, sandbar, shoal and spit erosion or depositional expansion, caused by prevailing daily and more rare, but high energy, wave and wind patterns.
  3. Wetland and dune vegetative succession and collapse or dieback events.
  4. Seasonal plant growth patterns and consequent dominance, seen in the aerial photographic images (i.e. tall grasses obscuring the appearance of low scrub growth late in the season).
  5. Human intervention, with the construction, dredging, landfill or mining.
